Talk:  "Every most noble delight" The sweet accents of Italian opera

The title comes from one of the earliest operas, Dafne, written by Marco da Gagliano in 1608. In the prologue, Music invites the audience to listen to: "...This truly princely spectacle, pleasing beyond all others, in which is united every most noble delight." In this talk, the speaker hopes to illustrate what David Kimbell, in his massive review of operatic history, calls, "the Italianness of Italian opera."

A light meal consisting of soup, sandwiches, and dessert will be served following the talk at a cost of $12.00 per person. For more information email
